HunarMate ("HunarMate", "we", "us", "our") provides a mobile app and website that help independent coaches (dance, sports, fitness, yoga, martial arts and similar) manage their students, batches, attendance, fees and public profile. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have — whether you are a coach using the app or a parent/student interacting with a coach's public profile or receiving messages from HunarMate on a coach's behalf.
1. Information we collect
From coaches (account holders):
- Phone number (used to sign in via OTP/one-time password)
- Name, profile photo, bio, sport/skill specialty, experience, fees and session timings
- Approximate location/city-area (used to help parents discover nearby coaches; collected only with your permission)
- Information you add about your students and batches: names, ages, parent names, parent WhatsApp numbers, attendance records, progress notes and fee/payment details
- Photos you choose to upload (profile photos, batch/student images where applicable)
From parents / students (via a coach's public profile or messages):
- Name, child's name and age, contact/WhatsApp number and message — only if you choose to submit a trial-class request or review through a coach's public page
Automatically collected:
- Basic device and usage information (app version, device type, crash reports) to help us fix bugs and improve the app
- A push-notification token, so we can send you reminders and alerts you've opted into
2. How we use this information
- To operate your coaching account: batches, students, attendance, fee tracking and your public profile page
- To send WhatsApp/SMS/push reminders on your behalf — for example, fee due reminders to parents, or class reminders — only as configured by you in the app's settings
- To process payments you choose to collect through the app via our payment partner (see "Third-party services" below)
- To show parents your public coach profile, reviews and trial-booking option, if you've made your profile public
- To improve HunarMate, fix bugs, and keep the service secure and reliable
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your students' information for advertising.
3. Third-party services we use
HunarMate is built on the following service providers, who process certain data on our behalf under their own privacy and security commitments:
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore database, Cloud Storage, Cloud Messaging, Hosting) — for account sign-in, data storage, file storage, and notifications
- Razorpay — for generating secure payment links and processing fee payments when a coach chooses to collect fees online
- Meta / WhatsApp Business Platform (via AiSensy) — for delivering automated WhatsApp messages such as class and fee reminders that a coach has chosen to send
Each of these providers may process data in accordance with their own privacy policies, and may store data on servers outside India.
4. Children's information
HunarMate is intended for use by adult coaches. Coaches may enter information about their students, including minors, strictly for the purpose of running their coaching business (attendance, progress tracking and parent communication). We do not knowingly collect information directly from children, and all communication regarding a student is routed through the student's parent/guardian. If you are a parent and believe your child's information has been added incorrectly or you'd like it removed, please contact the coach directly or reach us at the email below.
5. Data retention
We retain account and student data for as long as a coach's account remains active, and for a reasonable period afterward to allow account recovery and to meet legal/accounting obligations (such as fee and tax records). You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time (see "Your choices" below).
6. Data security
We use industry-standard measures (including encrypted connections and access controls provided by Firebase) to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your choices and rights
- Notification preferences: You can turn on/off trial request, fee reminder, and attendance alerts from the app's Settings.
- Access & correction: You can review and edit your profile, batches, and student information directly within the app.
- Account deletion: You can request deletion of your account and associated data by writing to us at privacy@hunarmate.in. We will action verified requests within a reasonable time, subject to any legal retention requirements.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date above, and where changes are significant, we'll notify you through the app.
